Paul Kalkbrenner

Paul Kalkbrenner The Alchemist of tracks:

In 1992, Paul Kalkbrenner and Sascha Funke started DJing together. The two friends were collecting religiously techno records. Paul experienced the first major wave of electronic music in the legendary clubs of Berlin. That’s when Paul and Sascha met Ellen Allien Bpitch at a party. It was Allien who threw the first issues of Paul through Bpitch Control in 1999: “Friedrichshain”, the first reference was an instant hit. It was followed by numerous maxis and two albums: “Superimpose” and “Zeit”. Their third album, “Self” where emotional gestures are interfaced with oriented dancefloor sound data 2004.
Later, when the minimal something becomes subversive, Paul repond with your Rave-hit “Gebrünn Gebrünn”.

The same year the Berlin film director Hannes Stöhr -fan declared Kalkebrenner- want to make a film about an electronic musician and Berlin scene of that decade: contact Paul to produce the soundtrack. Paul becomes the perfect protagonist for the film. “Berlin Calling” is a time bomb: the soundtrack and the single “Sky and Sand” break all sales records.

Kalkebrenner takes on a new challenge: a cinematic journey through his European tour. “2010-A Live Documentary”, fifteen by eight cameras simultaneously recorded and later released on DVD by the group of audiovisual concerts Pfadfinderei becomes a reference document of electronic music.
